ANALUW

From the Greek word ANALUW meaning "to break (something) up," to analyze is to break up a body of information into its essential parts and to understand the relationship of those parts to each other.   We can learn more efficiently (and write more clearly) by approaching all new material analytically, from the technical reports of engineers to essays on literature.   (For more on technical writing, select "Writing on Science and Society " from the links on the left.)
