In
this seminar, we'll mix field trips to local industries and national labs with
invited talks from energy and environment researchers and practitioners to
cover a range of issues.
Course
Requirements:
Each student is expected to arrange for one class speaker or one field trip;
Every week write a one-page paper reflecting on the previous week's seminar;
participate in a group effort to research and present to the class information
about the field trip location prior to the trip.
Grading: If you're taking this course for
credit, you'll be expected to actively participate in the discussions. This
isn't a seminar in which you sit quietly in back and listen passively. Specific grading criteria are:
Writing
assignments: 50%
Overall
class participation: 25%
Attendance:
25% (you can miss one class without penalty)
If
you show up for class, participate in discussions, and keep up with the writing
assignments, you'll get an "A."
